With release 2026.1.0, UniversalPlantViewer (UPV) becomes UDiTH – the Universal Digital Twin Hub, CAXperts’ next-generation digital twin platform. The new name reflects what the software has grown into since its beginnings in 2012: from a viewer for industrial plants to a hub that connects data, systems and teams into a living, evolving digital twin – across the entire asset lifecycle.
UDiTH brings four building blocks together: the platform that fits into existing ecosystems, apps that deliver ready-to-use solutions, the Portal for central, scalable access to data, and the API for integration and extension. In short: modular by design. open by philosophy.
An all-new rendering core
UDiTH is built on an all-new graphics and rendering core that delivers better graphics performance than UniversalPlantViewer. It runs as an app on Windows, iOS and Android – with full offline access to models, for example on site – and in the browser.
UDiTH Portal: central access, smarter management
The new UDiTH Portal replaces the former UPV Webservices and becomes the central hub for models, attributes and administration:
Central Model Repository – one secure storage for all 3D models. Render servers stream directly from the repository, without duplicating models.
Admin Dashboard – full visibility of licences and sessions across the platform, with central monitoring and the option to end sessions remotely.
Indexed attribute search – key attributes are selected on upload and can be searched across all models; results link into 3D, diagrams and documents.
Optimized performance – the Portal scales across multiple servers with real load balancing for smoother, faster response times.
Browser-based viewing makes even very large models available without installation, with rendering on the server.
More powerful sketching and layouts
3D sketching gains new capabilities: multi-colour and multi-layer sketches, textured imports and SymbolDesigner for UDiTH. Layouts can be saved and loaded, and start-up views can be predefined for each instance. Several windows can be used side by side, for example a P&ID next to the 3D view.
Advanced apps and an AI-ready platform
A flexible app ecosystem – custom-built with the AppControls framework or ready to use – embeds directly into the interface. The UDiTH Toolkit with Tickets and Workflows covers punch lists, design reviews, maintenance tracking, management of change and central collaboration. RealitySnap AI turns photos into textured 3D objects that can be stored in the catalogue and reused.
The new, powerful UniversalAPI makes UDiTH AI-ready: it can connect to AI systems, and customers can create their own AI integrations and UDiTH apps with the AI of their choice.
Across the entire asset lifecycle
From bidding and design to construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance and turnarounds, UDiTH supports every phase – with management of change and conceptual design, 4D visualization and simulation, progress tracking, live data and maintenance management, as well as zone control, virtual training and linked safety documents.
Four releases a year
Version numbers now follow the year of the release: 2026.1, 2026.2 and so on. UDiTH is released four times a year, with hotfixes in between.
Existing UPV models and workflows can be moved to UDiTH; the migration from UPV and the UPV Webservices to UDiTH and the UDiTH Portal is described in the UDiTH documentation. Find out more on the UDiTH page.
