UniversalPlantViewer 7.0: The Digital Twin Integration Platform

With version 7.0, UniversalPlantViewer (UPV) becomes the digital twin integration platform. In its seventh iteration, UPV continues to push the boundaries – with unmatched model capacity, a streamlined user experience and advanced integration capabilities. Since its first release, UPV has evolved from a viewer into an integral tool for managing complex industrial plants.

Revised user interface

UPV 7.0 comes with a revised user interface and a changed menu structure, so that frequently used functions are quicker to reach. A new, enhanced MiniMap helps users keep their orientation even in very large models.

MultiWindow: 3D and P&ID side by side

With the new MultiWindow feature and its window manager, several views can be arranged next to each other – for example the 3D model and the matching P&ID side by side.

AppControls: integrate any system

AppControls are the most important innovation of UPV 7.0. They are a tool for integration and customization: functionality can evolve as required, and users work more productively because the information they need appears directly in the context of the model. AppControls open as windows in the window manager, next to the 3D viewport and the files.

Technically, AppControls are HTML5 web applications. They communicate with the UPV core through the UPV API and can also access the API of any external application. This builds a bridge between the systems and creates a seamless integration.

The integrated digital twin

UPV 7.0 combines 3D models, P&IDs, laser scans, drawings, isometrics and attributes with data from other systems – for example Microsoft Power BI, Oracle Primavera P6, Oracle Unifier, SAP PM, SQL databases or any other source with an API.

Alongside the release, the API command set is extended, performance is optimized further, and laser scan meshing as well as panorama viewing and navigation are enhanced. For the UPV WebServices, security is enhanced with the Keycloak identity server.
